The Right Sector (Ukrainian: Правий Сектор, Pravyi Sektor) emerged in 2013 as a nationalist movement in the wake of the Euromaidan and played a key role in the street fighting in Kyiv. From 2014 onward, it formed armed battalions called the "Ukrainian Volunteer Corps" (ДУК ПС) that fought on the front lines against pro-Russian separatists in Donbas. The patch's symbol combines the tryzub , sword, and assault rifles—a symbol of the movement's militant patriotism.
