The Commandos Marine, also called Bérets Verts (Green Berets), are the special operations forces (SOF) of the French Navy, based in Lorient in Brittany in western France. They operate under the Special Operations Command (COS), FORFUSCO, one of the four main forces of the French Navy or an operational command designated by the French Army Staff. They are specialized in offshore operations; sea-to-land operations and special operations on land. One of the main characteristics of marine commandos units is perfect interoperability with all naval resources and units (ships, aircraft, submarines).
