The Azov Brigade (Ukrainian: Бригада «Азов»), initially the Azov Battalion and later the Azov Regiment, is a frontline brigade of Ukraine that has been fighting against Russian troops or pro-Russian separatists and their suspected civilian collaborators in the east of the country in the Russo-Ukrainian War since 2014. Initially established as a battalion in May 2014, it became part of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine as a regiment in the same year and is now considered an elite unit. During the siege of Mariupol, the Azov Regiment resisted Russian superiority for a long time but had to capitulate in May 2022.
